One huge benefit of this plan that really sets it apart from other BC offerings across the board is that it includes maternity coverage. If you're a woman who thinks there's even a chance that you'll become pregnant in the next couple of years, maternity coverage is a must, as the hospital bill for having a baby can be in the tens of thousands.
The "share" in the moniker comes from the fact that you can also visit out-of-network office visits for 50% co-payment, and you can make unlimited visits. You also have unlimited, deductible-free prescription drug benefits, with a separate $250 deductible applied to brand-name drugs only.
BEST FOR: Women searching for an affordable health plan. It's rare for high-deductible plans to offer maternity benefits, but this one does. Having a child can be a blessing, but without the proper insurance it can also be a financial disaster.
PROS: Plenty of benefits before you have burned through your deductible, which in this case isn't high to begin with.
CONS: Watch the high out-of-pocket maximum of $5,000. In a medical emergency, your own costs will be significant, even though this plan has a relatively low deductible of $1,500.
