Vimo Editorial: Health Plan Profile

One of the most impressive features of HumanaOne is also a staple of every Humana plan: the excellent online health plan management tool that enables you to check status of claims, see how much you’ve spent on healthcare during the year and estimate the costs of common medical procedures, services and prescriptions. Browsing the online features of the plan, you realize Humana really gets the importance of the Internet in making consumer driven healthcare effective for participants.

HumanaOne HSA is customized so that it will qualify you for a Health Savings Account (HSA), closely mirroring the benefits in the Humana's Individual Health Plan policy with one major difference: No prescription drug benefits until the deductible is reached. It also doesn’t feature emergency room benefits prior to the money you spend on your deductible.

After the deductible is reached, the plan covers 100 percent of physician and hospital services within the network, considerably higher than the 80 percent offered under Humana’s Individual Health Plan policy. Most importantly, the plan qualifies you for an HSA.

BEST FOR: Individuals looking for a high deductible health plan from an excellent PPO network, and who are willing to pay a little more for doctor’s visits benefits. If you expect to go the doctor a number of times this year for routine visits, this plan might suit you.

PROS: Excellent online system for managing your healthcare costs. Humana also has an excellent network in Florida.

CONS: There’s no prescription drug benefit unless you pay more than $500 per year for drugs.
