For its price, the plan sounds great, but it’s important to remember it is a temporary plan. It also has a lifetime maximum smaller than non-temporary plans: $2 million instead of $5 million.
BEST FOR: Students or people between jobs who opt not to go with their company’s COBRA plan.
PROS: Low price, comprehensive coverage, flexibility in what kind of deductible you want. The deductibles are remarkably low compared to similarly priced plans on the non-temporary plans on the market.
CONS: As a temporary plan, it has a lower lifetime maximum. Despite the relatively low deductibles the plan has, you need to remember its out-of-pocket maximum is higher. Add $1,000 to the deductible for the full out-of-pocket maximum – which is the total amount you will need to pay before the policy stops forcing you to pay 20 percent coinsurance.
