I don't care what they're calling themselves this week. It's only March and it's been a royal pain in the you-know-what. Get your HSA somewhere else.

There are many many reasons to avoid this bank, some of them listed in prior comments. They do not in fact offer the account options listed on Web site. Accessing account information through their Web site is Byzantine. It's impossible to get someone on the phone who knows anything. Strongly suggest that you complain to FDIC. Potential customers need to be warned away from Exante/Optum bank.

You should go to the Bank of Cashton to open your HSA's. I went with them and they have been great. Their website and internet banking need updating but they make up for it in customer service. Give them a call...you will be glad you did!

Absolutely horrible! Now called OptumHealth Bank. Bad customer service, did not hold to what they told me. Reading through this blog, no one has provided an ALTERNATIVE?? Where can a person get an HSA from a company that is actually managed well???

Check out IRS.gov Publications 969 and 502, they are filled with information about HSA’s that can help you understand why banks do what they do. And Lastly, every bank has fees, and there’s usually a way to avoid them, pay attention to your Schedule of fees, it usually has everything you need to know before you complete the application.

Secondly, keep in mind no company is ever perfect. Websites have issues and so do system conversions. Thirdly, the reps are there to help you, not hinder you but they do have to follow federal regulations both on the monetary side and on the healthcare side. Laws dictate the things that can and cannot be allowed. The IRS are who regulate the contribution, rollover, eligibility and usage guidelines.

you can go to FederalReserve.gov to read more about it but the basics of it is that depending on whether the check is out of state, out of town etc is what will determine the hold time for personal and business checks. Guaranteed checks such as cashiers, us treasury and postal money orders all have a shorter hold time. You can also electronically transfer funds via an ACH method or using the website’s econtribute. It’s easy and the hold time is a few bus days at most for the latter methods.

As a member of OptumHealth Bank, formerly known as Exante Bank, and a former regular and current HSA bank rep , I feel there are a few thing that should be known. First and foremost, any deposits that are made into an acct whether it be your run of the mill bank or a specialized bank like OptumHealth, they are all subject to the same Federal Regulations. What dictates the hold time is Fed Reg CC,

So many problems with Exante, that i started wondering how big of a kickback was given to UHC for the partnership with Exante. Discovered that Exante is a seperate entity of UHC. Worts web design I have ever seen. Debit cards do not work. Transactions, deposits, transfers, payments do not go thru when done on line. Always hear different answers to same questions from customer service. One even said the confirmation of a transfer does not mean anything as it is just generated regardless of

Very displeased with Exante. It takes them 8-10 days to clear a wire transfer deposit The debit card does not work at all. Charges processed through a Medical provider's credit card system often bounce, resulting in fees against the account. Complaints will get the fees waived. On the plus side, they are very quick to reimburse me with direct transfers to my checking account. I don't know why they cannot handle deposits just as quickly. I wouldn't use them if I had another choice.

I'm new with Exante Bank. I linked to them via Vanguard and liked the initial selection of investment opportunities (mostly Vanguard funds). But once I signed up the selection menu was a lot less. Most of the selections are either very conservative or very aggressive. Only the Vanguard Wellington offered balance. The website can be improved - no doubt. Thus far my deposits have shown up though they could be little quicker. I haven't used the debit card. Relative to other HSAs their fees are ok

After posting my comment and then reading the other comments I felt compelled to add more. What terribly uninformed people responded. Do they not read the information sent to them? All banks charge fees and offer interest. This information was sent after I opened my account - and a pin number to boot. If you are going to open a consumer directed account - read the informatio that is sent - don't bash the bank for your ignorance.

The whole business premise of Exante Bank is to create petty, arbitrary rules----and then ding their customers with fees and penalties when their rules are broken. They allow themselves a ridiculously long time to credit your deposit---then charge returned item fees for checks written against funds that are there--but not credited. Their system is set up to process the checks you write BEFORE the deposits you make. This maximizes the penalty fees.

They charge $4 per month unless you keep $100 in the account on every day of the month. If at any time you drop below $100 you get charged and you will also be charged $1 per month for every month you drop below $500 on any day. Also there is a $25 account closing fee.

I talked to a very helpful Customer Service Rep. named Cindy, via the 1.866.234.8913 number after wading through the HSA Info option, and 1 or 2 more options. The key was pressing "0" at the correct time, even though this option was not explained by the phone system. Cindy answered my questiones and even helped me with the process for doing the same operation on-line.

Terrible company, SEC needs to know about its practices for HSA customer. I ditto all comments. Name of Exante Bank CEO is Richard L. Measelle, Exante Financial Services CEO is John M. Prince. Exante is part of United Healthcare. Talk about putting it to those of us who are self-insured. I urge all of you to take action.

Very poorly run business. Customer service is next to nothing. My company changed my insurance so I could no longer participate in the HSA program. Exante failed to contact me for many months, then I learn they have been charging me $5 a month (no notification of this change as my company use to pay all fees). My account had already been zero-ed out so why did they think I wanted an account that 1) was empty and 2) I could not contribute to. And on top of that I was suppose to pay them for

I have tried to deposit money into my account with using Automated Clearing House. Most banks could do this online. Exante requires me fax in an application and a voided check. I have done this four times., yet they say they do not receive it. I can't talk to the people in the bank, only to customer service, who has no idea if the fax has been received. They recommend waiting 24 hours and trying again. I am out of time and patience. My bill is due next week. Will switch banks.

Do not sign up w/ UHC or EXANTE. UHC owns most of EXANTE stock. They do not have an IT person on staff so if you have website problems, they literally cannot resolve it. The only way to get access again is to close out your account and start a new one. I would suggest using a real bank for your HSA not an insurance company. If you cant trust insurance companies, and we all know we cant, why would you let them handle your mony. I am searching to join a class action law suit against EXANTE.

They recently upgraded their system and obviously did not fully test it. I have not been able to contact anyone to tell them they have a problem - after punching the code to talk to a live representative, it times out and you get "if you would like to make a call..." recording. Absolutely unsatisfactory service and ineptness on their part. Recommend finding another institution that at least gives you the impression they care about you as a customer!

Have been trying for over a week to get them to release money,my money, out of my HSA for a doctors visit I had. Every time I call customer service,I get the run around or down right lies. I`ve also have been getting $3 a month fees, every month that I was not told about. I was told we`d be gettind 4%+ int. a month. Nothing was ever said about fees. Now even after intrest,I`m still paying almost $2 in fees. They told me to just pay my $415 doc bill out of my pocket if I was having so much trouble

Exante is awful. I don't know who all these people are who are praising Exante to the skies, but some of them may be Exante employees (you never know). My employer just got us on UHC's HSA. Exante first sent us debit cards that do not work. Now, money disappears from my paycheck but doesn't show up in my account for weeks and weeks. And forget about getting a live person on the phone. It's always automated excuses: high call volume, call back later. Storm, office closed. Aaaargh!

We started with United Health Care and Exante Bank in 2005. Minimal problems with UHC but Exante is the absolut worst to deal with. Our small company has followed their ever changing guidelines to fund accounts. cashiers checks sent via FedEx available next day - PER Exante's rules. just yesterday I was trying to resolve why they held a cashiers check - the most obsurd question came out of the CR persons mouth - Was that a Bank Cashiers Check? Exante's HSA is extremely easy to use. I can pay doctors online (like paying bills via online banking) and get all the forms I need in one place. Exante's investment options are also the best I've seen in the industry and they dont charge most of the annoying fees that their competitors charge.

We have our company health insurance with UnitedHealthcare and use Exante Bank for our HSA account and are extremely satisfied. We have access to all the information on-line in real time. Enrollment was easy and went well. We enrolled in the HSA account in Jan. of 05, off anniversary and subsequently renewed in September...so we have 14 months worth of experience under our belt. Experience has been great! As insurance brokers we are familiar with other arrangements and rate Exante A+
