Use piperonyl butoxide and pyrethrins topical exactly as directed by your doctor, or
follow the directions that accompany the package. If you do not understand these directions, ask
your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.
Do not apply piperonyl butoxide and pyrethrins topical to open cuts or wounds. Doing so
could cause too much medication to be absorbed by the body, which could be dangerous.
Do not apply this medication to the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. Flush with water if
you get medication on these areas.
Contact your doctor if the eyebrows or eyelashes become infected with lice. Do not use
this product on the eyebrows or eyelashes.
When using the shampoo or mousse, do not open the eyes when rinsing until the product
is completely rinsed from the hair. A washcloth or towel should be used to protect the eyes when
rinsing.
Do not use more of this medication than is directed. Using too much of this
medication could be dangerous.
Avoid inhalation of the vapors from the mousse. Use in a well-ventilated area. Do not
puncture or incinerate the can, the contents are under pressure.
To prevent reinfection, wash all clothing, hats, bed clothes, bed linens, hair brushes, or
combs in hot water with a strong cleanser to remove any mites or eggs.
Store piperonyl butoxide and pyrethrins topical at room temperature away from
moisture and heat.
Serious side effects are not expected to occur with the proper use of piperonyl
butoxide and pyrethrins topical. Stop using the medication and seek emergency medical attention
if you experience a rare but serious allergic reaction (shortness of breath; closing of the throat;
swelling of the lips, face, or tongue; or hives).
Some itching, burning or stinging, tingling, numbness, redness, swelling, or a rash may
occur near the site of application.
Notify your doctor if the condition worsens, or if unusual itching, redness, swelling,
burning, or a rash occurs.
Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any
side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
Do not apply other topical preparations to the affected area during treatment with
piperonyl butoxide and pyrethrins topical, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with piperonyl butoxide and
pyrethrins topical. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or
over-the-counter medicines, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal products.
Avoid sexual or intimate contact with others until the infection has been cured. Also
avoid sharing hair combs, hair accessories, hats, clothing, bed linens, and other articles of
personal use. The infections are highly contagious. Treat others with whom you have sexual or
other close contact, who are also infected.

medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Piperonyl butoxide and pyrethrins topical is available over-the-counter under several
brand and generic names. Ask your pharmacist any questions you have about this medication,
especially if it is new to you.
